Three Main Building Departments

Do you work on projects in Las Vegas and Henderson if your office is in Reno?
Yes. We are a Nevada firm headquartered in Reno, and Southern Nevada work runs on our remote-engineering process: drawings and site information come to us digitally, and sealed drawings and calculations go back electronically. When a project needs a site visit, we schedule it as part of the scope.
Which building departments do you submit to in the Las Vegas valley?
It depends on the parcel. Projects inside city limits go to City of Las Vegas Building & Safety or City of Henderson Building & Fire Safety; much of the Strip and the unincorporated valley is permitted by the Clark County Department of Building & Fire Prevention. We confirm the jurisdiction from the address before we start, because each one has its own submittal portal and review process.
Does Clark County require engineered plans for structural work?
Clark County reviews plans against the International Building Code, and plans and calculations must be approved before a permit is issued. For structural modifications — wall removals, additions, garage conversions, retaining walls over the permit threshold — that means a sealed structural package from a licensed engineer.
Can you design the foundation for a metal building in Southern Nevada?
Yes. We act as engineer of record alongside the metal building manufacturer: we set the design criteria, review the reaction report, and design the footings, thrust resistance, and slab. Concept layouts usually come back in a few days.
